A baby pianist, a polka dot romper and a big bow – what else could be cuter!?  My sister bought me this little piano for my kids for Christmas and I thought it was so cute I couldn’t wait to use it, anything “miniature” makes me smile.  I took these shots for Pixiedust Pretties for Zulily.

These little sisters are so beautiful!  And they were all a dream to work with…  They needed some photos for their portfolio as they are modeling, and so we tried to give them a few different looks/feels.

A model casting test shoot for a Commercial Client using fashion by Mia Belle Baby

utah commercial photographer | test shoot for a commercial client

This was a test shoot/model casting thing I did before I did a shoot for a Luxury Blanket Company, careAboo.  It is so different when you get a child behind a camera, I think all children are so beautiful and special in their own way, but some kids tense up behind the camera and have a hard time getting candid.  I usually can get the candid feel out of most kids, but during commercial shoots, unfortunately there is not time for this, so I wanted to get them behind the camera first before I recommended which models would be best for careAboo to use.  They actually all ended up doing great, so it really came down to their heights, etc. and what three would work best together for this commercial client’s photography purposes.

It was a crazy day that day though, I had this amazing spot picked out to do the shoot and right before everybody was to meet up, there was a huge fire in Alpine, very near where we were going to shoot, it was on the mountain side but coming towards the houses, so of course we couldn’t be anywhere near the fire.

With models, parents and everybody in their cars we drove to this house I knew of that let’s me take photos there, the problem was it is a very “shaded” house and at the time we were shooting there was not a lot of light at all, one thing to know about “candid photography” and “group shots” is you need light, otherwise all of the movement will look blurry, etc. And you don’t want to go too low on your aperture if you are shooting multiple kids in a shot so all of the faces are in focus… so basically did my best to work with what I had.

I had Mia Belle Baby send some clothes for the shoot so they could get some cute photos from it since I was doing the shoot anyway.

Gorgeous High School Senior, Linsey.

Senior Portraits Photographer | Linsey

senior portraits photography in Salt Lake City and Utah County

A year ago maybe? ;) I am thinking of having a “blogging party” with my assistant and just doing blog posts for 6 hours straight – why is it so hard to give up that time for this?  I guess when I have fashion designers and people waiting on photos from me it’s hard to not work on those projects…  I love doing Commercial and Fashion photography, but I still love regular Portrait Photography – senior photos, newborn photography, etc.  I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY – all types, aaah – I wish on a daily basis I could just do one type, but there is so much I love, I can’t give anything up.  I am super excited to shoot the Top 10 Teen Models in Atlanta for Teen Model Magazine, but also just as excited to take a little girl to a field – I feel like I have a split personality sometimes.  I’m obsessed with Disney and Princesses and have watched Les Miserables 5 times since it came out yet I play Halo and Call of Duty on Xbox Live with my husband… and I’m actually good at it!  Okay, FUNNIEST thing is that my name on Xbox is “Whimsy Mist” – sort of ironic?  I always love when 12 year old boys get on and say “who is “Whimsical Wisp???”.  Am I talking about photography still?  Nope.

OH so about this shoot – LOVE this girl, I hope you can get to know her personality a little in these photos and understand what “Linsey” is all about – that’s the point of a Senior Photography shoot after all, right?

I LOVE her photo with Stefan and Edward, we were laughing so hard – okay I admit it, I watch Vampire Diaries and these photos make me want to get eye lash extensions.

Some “before and after” photos using Photoshop

Before and After Photos Using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom

Every photographer has different processes, techniques and preferences.  Here are a few before and after photos I have saved along the way… I will do more of this kind of stuff and even explain processes, do videos, etc. if people are interested.  So if you are, please comment and let me know what you would be looking for!  A lot of the photos are very old and it strains me to post them because I like some of my newer stuff so much more and would do so many things different. ;)

My process and workflow as also evolved over the years and those are things that could possibly benefit other photographers as well.  I shoot in the Raw and use Lightroom and Photoshop.  Comment and let me know what interests you!

Newborn Photography | Reflection Perfection

This is one of my favorite Newborn Photography sessions, ever, I can’t believe it took me so long to post it, okay I can believe it, but you know.  There is something about the clean, beautiful water, and the sweet perfection of the reflection that was so magical.  It was so beautiful while I was shooting, I actually started to cry – SO embarrassing, but I’m so passionate about my work, and to see the mother with her brand new baby in the water, I just thought was so beautiful.

This baby was SO sweet, she was perfection, not even a cry out of her the whole time, and the sweetest, cutest little smile.  After shoots like that it is hard for me to not want another baby (well after all Newborn shoots I want another baby), whenever I hold one I can hardly take the feeling I get holding a brand new baby.

Children Commercial Photography for Jumina’s SS13 Collection

I have been doing tons of commercial photography lately, shoot after shoot after shoot…. I’m exhausted.  I do love it, but it is very high stress…I shot Jumina’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, not posting the photos now, but here is a video of some of the photos! Thanks to Koko Blush for helping make the shoot happen!

This shoot by far took the most time in prepping as far as set building, my hubby and I about lost it putting it all together….  thanks to him for always being so supportive and helping bring my photography dreams to life.

Editorial Photography | a little abstract

Editorial Photography

editorial photographer | a little abstract

I know everybody doesn’t like stuff like this, but there are so many different types of photography that I love, it’s fun fun to change it up.  I did this shoot forever ago… probably over a year ago, but I still really liked these photos and wanted to post them. A little abstract, editorial type feel.

People often wonder how I do stuff like this and then take the types of children fashion photography that I do, I am really, really love and “feel” all different types of photos, so I just do what’s in my head… I HAVE to visualize a shoot before I shoot it – even if it’s against a very plain back drop, if I’m not “feeling it” or “seeing it”, I can’t do it.
