Wanted to take the “Cover Girl” type approach with this gorgeous girl… she actually won this shoot when we did a Facebook contest a year or so ago!  It was so fun hanging out with Ana and getting to know her, whenever I shoot any sort of teen photography, senior portrait photo shoot or work for Teen Model Magazine it seems we all hang out and have a party, I love it.

Gorgeous High School Senior, Linsey.

Senior Portraits Photographer | Linsey

senior portraits photography in Salt Lake City and Utah County

A year ago maybe? ;) I am thinking of having a “blogging party” with my assistant and just doing blog posts for 6 hours straight – why is it so hard to give up that time for this?  I guess when I have fashion designers and people waiting on photos from me it’s hard to not work on those projects…  I love doing Commercial and Fashion photography, but I still love regular Portrait Photography – senior photos, newborn photography, etc.  I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY – all types, aaah – I wish on a daily basis I could just do one type, but there is so much I love, I can’t give anything up.  I am super excited to shoot the Top 10 Teen Models in Atlanta for Teen Model Magazine, but also just as excited to take a little girl to a field – I feel like I have a split personality sometimes.  I’m obsessed with Disney and Princesses and have watched Les Miserables 5 times since it came out yet I play Halo and Call of Duty on Xbox Live with my husband… and I’m actually good at it!  Okay, FUNNIEST thing is that my name on Xbox is “Whimsy Mist” – sort of ironic?  I always love when 12 year old boys get on and say “who is “Whimsical Wisp???”.  Am I talking about photography still?  Nope.

OH so about this shoot – LOVE this girl, I hope you can get to know her personality a little in these photos and understand what “Linsey” is all about – that’s the point of a Senior Photography shoot after all, right?

I LOVE her photo with Stefan and Edward, we were laughing so hard – okay I admit it, I watch Vampire Diaries and these photos make me want to get eye lash extensions.

Some “before and after” photos using Photoshop

Before and After Photos Using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom

Every photographer has different processes, techniques and preferences.  Here are a few before and after photos I have saved along the way… I will do more of this kind of stuff and even explain processes, do videos, etc. if people are interested.  So if you are, please comment and let me know what you would be looking for!  A lot of the photos are very old and it strains me to post them because I like some of my newer stuff so much more and would do so many things different. ;)

My process and workflow as also evolved over the years and those are things that could possibly benefit other photographers as well.  I shoot in the Raw and use Lightroom and Photoshop.  Comment and let me know what interests you!

Riley Ottesen

This past Spring, I had so much fun going to support our local High School Baseball Team, American Fork High School.  It was something fun to take my kids too, especially because at baseball games they can run around while they game is going.  I love high school sports, it’s fun to follow teams of any age and get into the season a little, something fun to look forward to.  One of the pitcher’s, Riley Ottesen actually lives in my neighborhood and is an amazing baseball player.  They took State, so much fun to watch a team work together and accomplish the goal they set out to do.

I took this photo(s) during one of the games.

Senior Portrait Photography Session in Utah

Senior Portrait Photographer in Utah | Chandler

I did these ummm…. I want to say this past Spring, I know if I really wanted to know I can look at the date of when I took the photos, but no, I’m way too lazy to do that at the moment. I like to tell a story a little when I do senior portrait photography… or not a “story” but I want the photos to somehow tell you a little bit about that person.

This is Chandler, he went to American Fork High School, likes to have a good time, is chill and relaxed, likes to long board, is on Twitter, can be goofy at times, has a great smile, graduated 2012…

Dance photography session with Witney Carson from “So You Think You Can Dance”

Dance Photography, Editorial Photographer

dance photographer, witney carson

Love this shoot – love Witney Carson, if you watch Fox’s show, So You Think You Can Dance, she made it I want to say to the top 6?  The show is amazing, Witney was amazing.  I was so lucky to work with her.  My background is dance and so I can really related to dancers and when I do shoots with them I know what the proper techniques are, and so I can literally coach them and critique them while I am taking the photos, which helps to get those perfect shots.

When we did this shoot I was super nervous that she would get hurt because the floor was super slippery and with her doing the “jumps” she was doing really stressed me out, I was thinking “what if she got hurt and had to leave the show because of my photography session with her” lol.  She kept reassuring me that she was fine.  When we did the shots where there is water on her hair, etc.  Those types of shots are actually really hard to get without the water being too much on her face or something, we kept throwing water on her over and over and she started to shiver!  But she was such a professional and wanted to keep going until I got the shots, I think I did.

Announcement about working with Child Model Magazine on many upcoming fashion editorials!

So excited to be shooting for CMM (Child Model Magazine)!  Here is their official announcement about working with them: CMM Announcement.  They are a children fashion magazine and I was so excited when they contacted me!  I will be in Myrtle Beach the first week of October shooting a couple of editorials on the beach for them, I will also be in Atlanta for their Top Model search.  And then three lucky models will be flown out to Utah for a shoot I am doing in March for their Cover!

They also just launched a Teen Model Magazine, and I am looking forward to being apart  of that as well!  Starting with their December issue, my photos will be featured in every single issue, ongoing.  I have 4-5 editorials coming up in the next few weeks – one is for Babiekins Fashion Magazine as well, who I also love to work with.  I am working with many amazing designers in Europe that are sending me tons of beautiful fashion to use on my shoots.  Stay tuned to see some fun photos!
