Bring your children and lets have some fun! Amber is AMAZING with children, she seems to be able to form a special bond with even the most stubborn kids to get them relaxed so they will give a candid smile. She loves being a Utah Children Photographer and she LOVES candid photos, especially when it comes to child photography.
If your wanting your child sitting on a chair and holding perfectly still in a pose with a fake smile, then don't come to this Children Utah Photographer! :) Amber never expects kids to sit still in one place, if you are outside she will have them running around chasing her, getting pretend bugs off of her camera and skipping along Utah trails as she quickly follows them trying to get the best children photos possible! If you are in our childrens photo studio, in Highland, Utah County, Utah, it is the same thing, whether she decides to have a trampoline, fruit snacks, or whatever it may be, she will get your child smiling to get those amazing children photos you are looking for. As a Children Photographer in Utah, Amber has really got the children photography thing figured out! Your child will most likely hear her famous chipmunk voice, which trust us has actually been a tool in getting many beautiful Utah Children Portraits! Try really hard not to sress out moms! When it comes to Utah Children Photography sometimes we can get a little uptight getting our kids ready for the shoot. Not to worry, whether you stress out or not, you will for sure end up with fabulous child photos! :) Luckily Amber will Photoshop your child's drool, crumbs, stains, dirt, scratches, bruises, etc. This is not something a typical Utah Children's Photographer will include as a standard photo editing service, these are things that will ensure your Utah Children Photography experience with Frosted Productions is perfect! Amber is a big believer to keep children photos looking natural, and bringing out their sweet little faces, their natural eye color, etc.

It's interesting to see different Utah child clothing trends and phases when it comes to what to wear for Children Photography. Since Amber has been a Utah Children Photographer for quite some time, she has seen different trends and fads when it comes to clothing for child photos in Utah. Right now, she recommends the following for your children to wear for their photography session, weather you are interested in Children Photography, Baby Photography or Toddler Photography she recommends the same for each photography session.
Think bold, bright colors, mixing and matching patterns can be fun as well (just don't go too crazy with it). One thing you DON"T want to do is think stuff like, "oh it's Fall, I'm going to put my child in Autumn Colors like browns, reds and oranges, etc...." Well now your child will blend right in with the outdoor fall colors (in a bad way), in other words, they won't stand out. We are not saying any of those colors are bad, just try to stay away from that mindset in general. Again, being in the Utah Child Photographers business for a while we have learned some of these fun photography clothing tips for children. Those children pics that we all have seen in the 90's, all of the children and families are wearing browns, tans, khakis, orange, etc. We do like those colors individually, just maybe not all together! :)
Think accessories! Beanies, vests, scarves, hats, leggings, boots, cute children jewelry, think "funky and fun"... all of these things make a child photos so much more interesting and fun to look at! Other Utah Childrens Photographers could tell you otherwise, this of course is our "Children Utah Photographer Opinion".
Think casual! Stay away from "Sunday Best"! Think about what your child or children would normally wear on a daily basis (okay they will probably look a little different for the photo shoot, I'm guessing), but either way trust us on this one. Think color coordinating, not "matchy matchy". For example, if you have a few children you are bringing to a child Utah photography session, maybe don't have them in all the same clothes... One could be in a bright green vest and the next one with a striped shirt with the stripes being the same green as the other child's vest, or maybe a totally different color! A good rule of thumb is to pick 2-3 colors and mix and match them anyway you would like!
Included in your child photo session, we do a Pre-Consultation Call with you to determine what type of children's photo shoot we will do, what to wear, Utah County or Salt Lake City location, your child's interests, etc. If you would like even more than this (many of our Utah child photography clients do) you can do a 1-on-1 In Person Pre-Child-Photo-Session consult with Amber, check out that section to see what its all about.
Don't worry, we've got you covered, remember you are scheduling with a fabulous Children Utah Photographer! Within a few days of a booking a Child Utah Photography Session with us, you will get a call where we go over all of the details, finding out what you are interested in, etc. Amber will take it from there! There is no right or wrong when it comes to Childrens Photography decisions. We will let you know your options and our recommendations for the time of year, the type of Children's Utah Photography session you are looking for, etc. Whether you are looking for fall colors, urban settings, vintage photography props, or don't know what you are looking for at all, our job as a Premier Children's Photographer in Utah is to give you plenty of options!
We recommend that you schedule your Child Utah Photography session 6-8 weeks prior. However, there are sometimes spots that can open up in certain circumstances, or we may not be as booked out as that at some points throughout the year, so just give us a call and we will try to accomodate you the best we can!
*Full refunds can be given if you cancel your children photo session appointment earlier than 2 weeks before it is scheduled. We do realize that sometimes appointments need to changed, and of course we will accomodate rescheduling if needed at any point before your child photo session. However, there is a $25 rescheduling fee that we charge if the appointment is rescheduled, we hate to do things like this, but if we didn't than rescheduling can become a little too easy for some people. ;) If your child photography session needs to be rescheduled because of bad Utah weather than there is not a fee charged.
Yes, you can bring 2 outfits if you would like! But sometimes the best children photos come when we don't try to focus on changing too many accessories, clothing, etc. However, as long as the photo shoot isn't centered around that, it can work out great! So bring an extra outfit and any accessories that you would like, it's always better to have them there!

Many people don't know why they like a photo when they like it. There is a difference in Utah child photographers out there, many people can purchase a digital camera and take a childrens photo, but they don't know how to do quality editing on the childrens photo afterwards, and maybe don't have a great camera or lens to take amazing children photos! The top Utah photographers are shooting with their camera in "manual" mode, so they have full control of their camera. The photo below is interesting because it caught the side of the bridge out of focus and draws you in to look at the child's face.

A great Utah Children Photographer will not "color" the eyes, unless it's an artistic type photo like the child photo after this one, but an experienced child Utah Photographer will have enough experience as a professional photographer to know what angles and lighting to use to bring out your child's own coloring and beauty of their natural eye color.

Many people like the photo below, can the average person who is not a photographer, take a photo like this? Can all of the Utah children photographers out there get this shot for you? Again, there are many amazing Utah photographers out there, we just like to educate people on what to look for when they are comparing photographers and trying to select the right children photographer in Salt Lake City or Utah County for them.
The child photo below could not be taken by a Utah Child Photographer that didn't have experience or didn't know how to use their camera in manual mode. If you notice the fall leaves are blurry but the child's face is not. Do you ever take photos yourself indoors or when its too dark and the whole photo is blurry? That's because your shutter speed is to slow. Without using her manual settings Amber couldn't have gotten this beautiful children's photo highligting these amazing Utah autumn leaves but still drawing your focus to the little boy's face. Little things like this can help children portraits turn out beautifully and more interesting to look at.

Have you noticed while looking through these Utah Children photos, that you don't see sun shining in the child's eyes and dark shadows going across their faces, so that half of their face is dark and half is light, the children are never squinting in our photos. Again, many people when they look at good children photography don't realize what it is that makes it good.
