Such a beautiful photo below, the couple ordered a fine art canvas gallery wrap of this photo for their home. So Amber decided to add clouds to it and a blue sky! The original photo was just a white sky. Usually if you have blue sky and white clouds in a photo the faces in the photos are not properly exposed, it is extremely important that your wedding photographer knows how to shoot in the best lighting and directions.

Every engagement photo shoot is different depending on many different things, but this engaged couple ended up with over 1,000 photos. You get all of the unedited and edited digital images in high resolution. Why so many photos? Well to get "true candid" photos you have to "click, click, click" otherwise how will you never get a true candid photo.

Engagement photos like the one below are fun because it is as if you are peeking or spying on the couple, with the blurred out leaves in the front, it gives you that feel that you are really just looking at the couple having a "moment". You can do some things in photoshop that will give you an effect like this, but not if you didn't take the photo in the right way orginally, it would never look as authentic.

Notice how the engaged couple's faces look smooth and even, but not fake or photoshoped? Nobody has perfectly smooth and even skin tones, Amber will make sure you look your very best, but look yourselves and natural. Even the skinniest person could look like they have a little pooch, or could be sticking out their "butt" weird, or something, or you know when you press your arm against your body sometimes it looks twice the size than it really is... okay well we are not afraid to say those things, because they happen to EVERYBODY.

Amber does little things that even the couple will never know, she will lower shoulders, take in arms, thin out legs, take in stomachs, take out double chins, even add highlights and volume to your hair if needed. Again, the goal is that nobody would ever know... if you hire Amber you won't know either unless you look at the unedited photo as well, which you will have too of course. The goal here is that you look at your engagement photo and absolutely love it and think you look the best you have ever looked, but still "you". I mean if you are going to send out your photos to hundreds and of people and keep them and look at them for the rest of your lives, isn't that worth a little investment?

I mean Amber has filled in tooth gaps, taken braces off, made eyes bigger, taken bumps off of noses and even taken off 50+ pounds off of people if that is something a couple specifically asks her to do. But if you go too crazy, you may hide out at the wedding because your engagement photo didn't look anything like you. ;)

The engagement photo below and the one below that have a "film overlay" on them, you get everything with Amber. You get traditional, vintage, modern, black and white, sepia, chocolate, summer vintage, antique vintage and more types of colors and techniques on your photos. Usually every engagement photo comes with the original and then another version of that photo in one of those coloring techniques.

 

These photos are all candid, "true candid engagement photos" are the ones that look the best. You cannot pose the photo below without it looking cheesy. The engagement photo session was 3 hours long to ensure that the couple ended up with what they wanted. And well, they lost track of time, it was as if they were playing in a field and Amber wasn't even there.

 

Okay, so Amber does love to take photos like the one below that are weird, unexpected or unique. But don't worry, if you are not into that, she gets it. And if you are into stuff like that then she can do more. Whatever type of engagement photography you are looking for Amber will be able to deliver on. Unless you are looking for traditionl engagement portraits in sunday best, she may advise you of something different. ;)

So what does make a good photo? Many people see that they like a photo or that it is higher quality than another photo they are looking at, but they don't really know why. Well there are many, many things. But one thing you can notice is you are never seeing shadows on the couples faces... take a look, do you ever see the sun on half of one of their faces or dark eyes? Do you see the couple squinting at the camera? When comparing good wedding and engagement photography and prices, be sure to compare photographers that have the sames level of photography if you are looking for high quality fine art wedding and engagement photography.

 

 

Amber spends hours thinking of her engagement shoots before she does them, she has tons of ideas she is dying to use, but always makes sure it fits the couples personalities. She Will even find wild apple trees for you! :) No, but really, she spent hours and hours of driving this past fall to find this amazing location and fall colors for her clients. This particular couple didn't want props, or a "theme", but they did require a "field" with a mountain backdrop. Amber spends a lot of time with her clients to figure out the best possible location, theme, attire, etc. so that her clients are as happy as they could possibly be with their engagement photos. Amber would be dissapointed if an engaged couple was not screaming with joy, crying and laughing when they see how their photos turn out.
